Setting Up a Track
Setting Up a Track
Youusethetracksoftkeystoswitchthetrackonandtospecifytheinterval,as
timeor distance,at which track pointsaresaved.The timeintervalbetween
trackpoints canbe set to 1s,5s, 10s, 30s, 1min,3min,5min, 10min or
30minutes.The distancespacingbetweentrackpointscan be set to 0.1nm,
0.5nmor 1.0nm. The intervaldefaultis a distanceof0.1nm.The maximum
tracklengthis750 points.When thetrackhas reachedthislength,thefirst
pointsareoverwritten.Thetrackissaveduntilyouswitchitoff.Whentheunit
ispowered off,thecurrenttrack(thus far)is retainedin memory.
Settinga shorttimeintervalbetweentrackpointsis bestsuitedto navigation
withina closeorcomplexenvironment, e.g.anestuaryormarinawhereas,in
contrast, a greaterdistanceintervalis bestsuited to a long haulvoyage.
RefertothesettingguideshowninFigure 5-9todeterminethebestsettingfor
yourplannedvoyage; thisisparticularly importantif you wishtouse
SmartRouteto convert your trackto a route.

Youcanchangethe settingat anytime.Thesettingappliesonlytothecurrent
trackand isnotsavedas a storedtrack.

1. Pressthe MORE softkey to accessthe TRACK INTERVAL softkeys.
Presstheappropriatesoftkeytoseteitheratimeintervaloradistanceinter-
val;presstheUP arrowtoincreasetheinterval,theDOWN arrowtodecrease
theinterval.
