TheperformanceofMARPA andradar/chartoverlayonthedisplaysis
dependenton the qualityofyour headingsensor.
Raymarinerecommend that,for optimumMARPA and radar/chartoverlay
operation, you use the PathfinderSmart HeadingSystem(which includesthe
GyroPlus2 unit)or a G-seriescoursecomputer,connectedviaNMEA,as
yoursourceofheadingdata. The G-seriescoursecomputerusesrategyro
compensation.
ThisAppendix providesconnectiondetailsfor a Raymarine 150Gor 400G
course computer. For information on the Pathfinder Smart Heading System
referto the handbooksuppliedwiththecompass.Figure 8-15on page 26
showsatypicalPathfindersystemwitha Rate Gyro Compasssystem.

Ifyou have a Raymarine150G or 400G coursecomputerwe recommendthat
youconfigureyoursystemas followsandillustratedbelow:
• Connectthe coursecomputerNMEA1 outputto the NMEA input on each
ofyourdisplaysthatwill be used forMARPA andradar/chartoverlay.
• Foreach display,in theSystemSet Up Menu set BridgeNMEAHeading
OFF (seeBridgeNMEA Headingon page 7-9).
