Date and Time Settings
Setyourpreferreddateformat(DD/MM/YYorMM/DD/YY) and time
format(12 or 24hour).If you wishto display localtime,usethesoftkeysto
changefrom UTC to the requiredtime offset. Thiscan be up to plus or minus
13hours, in hourlysteps.
GPS SOG/COG Filter
TheSOG/COG filteraveragesthe velocityvectorsto compensatefor the
oscillating motionofthevessel,givinga clearerindication of the vessel’s
courseandspeed.ThefilterdoesnotaffectthecalculationoftheGPSposition.
Thevelocityvectorscalculatedfrom theGPS Signalgive an instantaneous
measureof speedanddirectionof theGPS antenna.The COG andSOG can
thereforeseemerraticundercertainconditions.Forexample,whenavesselis
movingslowlythrough roughseas, the antennamovesfromsideto side as
wellas in the directionofthevessel.
Slowmoving vessels,or vesselssailinginroughseaswill benefitfroma high
setting,whereasapowerboatthatcanquicklychangespeedanddirectionwill
benefitfromalowsetting.
SelecttheSOG/COG filtersettingas required.This can be settoHIGH,
MEDIUM or LOW.
Compass Set Up
Thisoptionisusedtocalibrate a Raymarineheadingsensorsuchasthe
Pathfinder SmartHeading System.Controlsare providedforLinearise
Compass which detectsand correctsfor headingerrors causedbymetal
objects,andAlign Heading whichmatchesthe displayedheading to a known
heading ortransit.
Referto the Handbook suppliedwithyour headingsensorfor more details.
Language
Selectthe languagein whichyou wish informationto be displayed.The
selected languagewill be usedfor screen text,labels,menusand options, but
will not affect the letters displayed bythe context-sensitive cursor. The
languagesettingalso affects the displayformatfor lat/longposition
information.
