Placing a Guard Zone
Placingandpositioningguardzones on the PathfinderPlus Radar displayis
quickand easy.
• Ifaguardzone isnotalreadydisplayed,you can place one usingthe
ALARMS key.
• Ifyouhavealreadyplacedaguardzone,pressingtheALARMS keyallows
youto toggle eitherguard zoneonoroff.
Note:When you turnon a guardzone,itisnormallydisplayedin itslast-used
positionandshape.However,ifthispositionisoff-screenatthecurrentrange
setting,or withinonequarterofthe currentrangefromyourvessel,theguard
zoneis placedatitsdefault positionand shapeinstead.This isat onethird
(Zone1) or two thirds (Zone2) ofthe current range, as a sector zone occupy-
ing30°eithersideof the ship’s headingmarker.
➤ To placea guard zone:
1. PressALARMS. The softkeysaredisplayed.
Thesoftkeys indicatethe currentstatusof the two guardzones.
2. Ifnecessary,pressthesoftkeyfortheguardzoneyourequire,totogglethe
settingbetweenOFF andON. Thesoftkeys are cleared.If you turneda
guardzoneon,itisdisplayedinitslast-usedpositionwithonecornerunder
cursorcontrol.
Theradarpictureshowsthe guard zone as a four-sided shape boundedby
asolidline(oracircleif previouslysetasone).
Thecursoris positionedover an outercornerof the zone as shown in
Figure 3-14.The cursor hascontrolof this corner,asshownbythetext
GRD in inversevideo,the four-headed arrow, and the solidguard zone
boundary.
