Using Marks
4.3 Using Marks
TheMarksfunctionallowsyoutoplaceamarkanywhereontheradarpicture.
You can alsomove existing marksordeletethem. Youshould be aware that
radarmarksarenotthesame as chart waypointsandcannotbe used inroutes,
norcanthey be transferredto otherdisplays.
Marksare placedwith the defaultmark symbol at eithercursor or vessel
position.Ifyouwish to use a different symbol, you can changethe default
settingfromthe RADAR SET UP menu(see Section 7.4). Mark symbols are
alwaysdisplayedwithinacircle.
Marksarestoredwiththeir latitude,longitudeand symbol;the information is
retained whenthe radar isturnedoff.Up to 100 markscanbestoredin each
displayunit.
Note:Whenyou use the MARKS keytoaccessthe Marks function,simply
pressthe keymomentarilyand releaseit.Ifyou hold it down for two seconds,
thePathfinderRadarwillentermanoverboard(MOB)mode,as describedin
Section 4.4.
TheMarksfunctionisonlyavailablewhenyourvessel’spositionisknownvia
theSeaTalk or NMEA connection.
Placing a Mark
➤ To placeamarksymbol:
1. Pressthe MARKS key. The softkeysPLACE MRK AT CURSOR and PLACE
MRK AT VESSEL aredisplayed.
2. To placea mark at the cursor, position thecursor at the requiredpoint.If
youare displayingthe cursor positionbox showingthe lat/longposition,
youcan check the coordinates to place the mark accurately.
Pressthe PLACE MARK AT CURSOR softkey.Themarkis placed usingthe
defaultsymbol.
3. To placeamarkat the vesselposition,press PLACE MRK AT VESSEL.The
markis placed usingthedefaultsymbol.
Note:If the Mark databaseis full,awarningmessageis displayed,withthe
position(in latitudeandlongitude)ofthe oldestmark.You havethefollowing
options:
i. Press the YES softkeytoreplacethisoldmarkwiththenewmark.
ii. Press the NO softkey to keep the old mark and displaythe nextoldest
mark.YoucankeeppressingNO tostepthroughthemarkdatabaseuntil
amarkyou wish to replaceis displayed,and then pressYES.
iii. Press CLEAR to keep all theexisting marks,and cancel the newmark
placement.
