thefunctionality of the display.Otherdatacan be viewed onthedisplay.
• Datacan be transmittedvia SeaTalkandNMEA to enhanceother equip-
ment.
• Someincomingdata canbe converted acrossthe communicationlink and
re-transmitted- see Data Conversionon page 8-30.
Power for External Equipment
Externalequipmentcannotbepoweredfromthe display’sSeaTalk
interface. Itmust be powered fromtheship’s supply or viaa SeaTalkbus.
Ensurecorrectpolarityofthe SeaTalkconnection.
Forsystemswhere the ship’s power sourceis24V only, you may need to
installa24V to 12 V DC converter. This is onlynecessaryif the products
beingconnectedtothe displayare:
• SeaTalkcompatible(forexample,compass,GPS and instruments),and
thereis no existingSeaTalk bus
• NMEAcompatible,butoperateonly from12V (forexample,compass,
GPS andsome navigators)
