8.7 Radar System Tests and Installation Alignment
Onceyouhaveinstalled your PathfinderPlus Radar Systemand made all the
connections,youneedtocheckyourinstallation andperformtheSystemTests
beforeusingthesystemfor navigation.It isstronglyrecommendedthatthe
SystemTestsareperformedbeforeconnectingtheradartootherequipmentin
anintegratedsystem.Ifyouhave extendedyourinter-unitcable,youwillalso
needto check thedisplaytiming.If you encounteranyproblems, referto
Chapter 9.
Youmaywishto readChapters2 to4, and familiarise yourselfwiththe
operation ofthesystem, beforeperforming theinitialset up and alignment.
System Check
Beforeperformingthe functionaltest,checkthefollowing:
• Allsecuringboltsarefullytightenedand mechanical lockingarrange-
mentsas specifiedare in place.
• Scannerand power connectionshave been made.
Ontheopenarrayscanner,setthe power switch (onthe pedestal)ON.
• Allconnectingwires aresecuredandprotectedasnecessary.
Note:If you aretheboatownerandhaveperformedtheinstallationyourself,
askyourauthorisedinstallationdealertocheckthe installation before going
to sea.
Switch On and Initial Setup
To switchon the displayunit,pressand hold the POWER key untiltheunit
beeps.Sincethedisplay isa radarmaster, the magnetron warm-upsequence
shouldstart,after which theunitshouldenter Stand-by mode.
Thedisplayswitcheson in the lastusedmode. If it isnecessarytochangethe
mode,press DISPLAY toshow theDisplaypop-up.PressDISPLAY again,as
necessary, to selectRadar mode, thenpressENTER.
Ifnecessary, adjustthe lighting(see Changing theBrightnessonpage 2-6).
Ifrequired,changethedefaultlanguagesettingsas follows:
1. Pressthe MENU keytodisplaythe setupsoft keys.
2. Pressthe SYSTEM SET UP softkey.

rentsettings.Thecompletelist,whichyoucanscrolldown,isshowninthe
followingillustration.
