Working with Routes
5.4 Working with Routes
Aroute ismadeup ofa seriesof waypoints(maximum50). To makea route
youplaceaseriesofwaypointsonthechart,oryoucanselectwaypointsfrom
theWaypointList.You canalsosaveyour vessel’strackasyounavigate,then
convertthetrackto a route-thisfunction isdescribedinSection 5.7.
Whena routeis createditbecomes the currentrouteand is displayedon-
screen.The currentrouteismaintainedwhenyoupower-off.Only one route
canbe currentandisdisplayed(ifit is in the field-of-view) as solidlines
connectingwaypoints.If youare followingtheroute,thecurrentlegisshown
asadottedlineandpreviouslegs areremovedfromthescreen(althoughthe
waypointsremain displayed).Thecurrent route (andits waypoints) is
transferred viaSeaTalktoa repeaterchartdisplay andotherinstruments.You
canalsousetheWaypointTransferfunctionstotransfertheroutedatabasetoa
repeaterdisplay.
Onceyouhavecreatedarouteyou can use the GOTO soft keys to follow the
route.In addition,the GOTO defaultsoft keyprovidesvariousoptionsas
describedinSection 5.5.
Upto 20 routescanbe savedinthe routedatabase.Youcan thenselecta route
fromthe databaselistasthecurrentroute.
Thecurrentroutecanbeeditedby addingandmovingwaypoints.Thecurrent
routeisalwaysplacedinthedatabaselistasroutenumber0,soyoucaneditthe
current routewithoutaffectingtheoriginalrouteinthedatabase.Oncearoute
hasbeensaved,optionsarealsoprovidedtoname aroute,erasea routeandto
displayroutedetails.
Youcanusetherouteinformationtoreviewyourpassageplanbyadjustingthe
plannedSpeedOverGround(SOG).
Note:
1.The routedatabase is storedlocally,inthedisplayuniton which itwas cre-
ated.Althoughthecurrentrouteisautomatically transferred, youneedtouse
the WAYPOINT TRANSFER function,describedin Section 5.6,to transferthe
completeroutedatabasetoarepeaterdisplayconnectedvia
hsb

.Alternative-
lyyoucan save routes,and loadthemfromauser cartridge.
2.It ispossibleforthecurrentrouteto beoverwrittenbya routefromanother
uniton an integratedsystem,soitis advisable tosaveall routes.
