GPS Setup
Restart GPS
Thissoft keyenablesre-acquisition of a GPSpositionfix.
Note:Under normal circumstancesRESTART GPS isnotrequired.
D-GPS Set Up
TheD-GPS SET UP functionprovidesthe ability to set up an external
DifferentialGPS,eitherautomatically(default)orbymanuallyretuningitto
a differentdifferentialbeacon.
In AUTO mode,the D-GPSis set toautomatic andbeaconselectionis made
automatically by the beaconreceiver.Thebeaconfrequencyand bit rate
receivedfromthebeacon receiveraredisplayed.Thesoft keys are disabled
andgrayed out.
InMANualmode,youcanselectthebeaconfrequencyandbitratethataresent
tothebeacon receiver.
Whenyou selectD-GPS SETUP apop-upwindow, providingthe following
parameters, is displayedwith associated softkeys:
• BeaconID-ThisshowstheBeaconID ofthebeacontransmitter.Ifnobea-
conhas beenfoundthisitem statesNOT LOCKED.
• BeaconFrequency-Boththemenuitemandassociatedsoftkeysshowthe
currently useddifferentialbeacon’s frequencyin kHz. The frequency
rangeavailableis 283.5kHzto 325.0kHz.
• BitRate - Both the menu itemandassociated soft keys showthecurrently
useddifferentialbeacon’s bit ratein bps. The ratesavailable are50bps,
100bpsand 200bps.
• SignalStrength andSignalto Noise Ratio-Theseitemsindicatethe
receivedsignalstrengthandSignalto Noise Ratio (SNR) indB, received
fromthe beacon receiver.Ifthe displayunit isusingRTCM data received
viaNMEA, thisinformationisnot availableand the itemshowsdashes,
onepercharacter. The receivedSignalStrength and SNR areinterrelated.
SNR providesa measureofthequalityofthereceived signaland is depen-
dentupon signalstrength.
• DifferentialAge-Thisindicatesthetimeelapsedsincethelastdifferential
beaconcorrectionupdate.
➤ To tunea differential SeaTalk GPS to anotherbeacon:
1. PressD-GPS SETUP, the Differential GPS Setuppop-upis displayed.
2. PressMODE AUTO MAN to togglebetweenAUTO and MAN modes;the
selectedmodeishighlighted is indicatedin the pop-up window.
